If you told me a year ago I would be right where I am today, I probably wouldn’t have believed it. I’m only a few days away from publishing my first book and it’s exciting and a bit scary all at the same time.

One thing for sure, I have a new appreciation of how much work goes into writing and producing a book, especially for those authors who choose to go Indie.

Now I won’t get into the whole debate on Traditional Publishing versus Indie Publishing, I think the right road depends on each individual. What I can tell you is Indie Publishing is an enormous amount of work, so I congratulate each and every author who has negotiated this sometimes overwhelming path towards publishing.

The other thing I have noticed is there seems to be a lot of wonderful Indie authors out there who are very supportive of other Indie authors, and I thank each and every one of them for writing those blog posts and sharing information, and answering questions. It can be a difficult task and I know I have found some valuable information from those who have traveled this road before me.

Another thing I have found is how hard it is – even for those with a fantastic book – to break into the market. Without a big advertising budget like the Big 5 Publishing Houses, everyone is on their own. With that in mind, I have vowed from here on forward to honestly review books I happen to read, and make sure to put up a review, especially for the ones I loved on Goodreads or Amazon or whereever I happen to obtain the book.

With that in mind, I will also soon be setting up to review books going to publication for other Indie authors… and try to share what I have learned on my journey from starting my manuscript all the way through to publishing it.

I truly hope you will join me as I start this blog, I hope to be able to take my turn in sharing my experiences and hopefully help someone along the way to reaching their dream of publishing their own book.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Kate
